Sky Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ Sky WiFi Max Not covering our whole house

Hi as the title says ours doesn't cover our large house and into the extension where we have a downstairs bedroom and wet room for someone who's not very well. But they are struggling to watch anything or we struggle to play online with him too as its a WiFi dead spot. Also we have 4 vr gamers live streamers😅 So we need to spread it out evenly so none of us are lagging out while streaming together. So question is what's my best thing to do? Ask sky for a booster? Buy my own router and mesh system? WiFi 7 5gb upload and download speeds covers half the house.

@SatanSlayerUK Call sky about the sky Max pods, with the package you have sky Max is included with it all, but all the rules have to be followed! Also pay attention to the speeds supplied and the pods are all wifi 5 devices i believe but may work out fine!

@SatanSlayerUK

As @JimM1 states, boosters should be available to you on loan from Sky and so thats the cheap option (but needs to go through the Sky investigation process to get them).

We had a similar issue with our bungalow having dead spots (with TalkTalk prior to moving to Sky) and so I invested in a Mesh system that works brilliantly. The added bonus ois that if  I move away from Sky when my contract ends I still have my Mesh system already in place. It also makes moving to a new providor very easy as you can keep the same wifi SSID and not have to re-connect/re-configure every device that you connect.

Good luck.

Thanks! I have to buy a new mesh system that supports the speeds the 1 is currently have is dated doesn't go well with our wifi 7 5gb up and down speeds router. Possibly new router too?

Why I'm asking for opinions on better 1s. Also this 1 I bought 4yrs ago I think? And I should have got a better model as we had plenty of packet loss and jitter through them 😅 the Deco x20 3x mesh system didn't work effectively we struggled even with 2.5gb up and down.

@SatanSlayerUK It's all your choice, i would at least try and thrash your 5Gb/s on the Gigafast+ wifi7 hub to see how it holds up to start with. As a 100% Asus user my favour goes that way but Tp-Link i use with powerline, and remote setup i did on a x50 mesh 4 node unit, was not impresed by it's performance but it was only a dual band mesh, Tri band really spoils you unfortunatly!

Yeah we have been doing that for last 3 months thanks just cant all play together at moment in VR as it just lags when more than 2 of us do 😆 Also it's only the vr headsets and the pc connected 3 x pc 4 x vr headsets so definitely not too many on network either 😅

@JimM1 Before Skily city Fibre i was on Vodafone city Fibre their 2.5gb up down speeds. They promised speeds of 1.6gb up and down. We never got that and it kept losing connection due to the wifi hub they sent out. It didn't have any 2.5gb ports on it lol so we couldn't get over 1gb up and down glad we moved it's already a better stable connection 😆

@SatanSlayerUK You should see if sky will give you the maxed out 3 Pod limit to spread your wireless around and they should all use the hidden backhaul and open up a tri band, would assume that the Gigafast + Hub does support it, but honestly time to breakout a wifi analyzer and see what is going on looking carefully at the bands and associated macs so you know what is going with what. You should be able to see a hidden wifi channel with them, know i was able to see all the EE router ones that they were throwing about, that was a router trying to be a Ferrari, with a lada Engine in it and still is!

@SatanSlayerUK It's all about what you use and what you need, i have nada sky on the line at all! worked ok but just did not have the get up and go that was needed, and sick of the wife / daughter conflicts, with her streaming a 4K movie, downloading another PS5 100Gb game, and at the same time on the steamdeck doing god knows what, so FF500 they can do what they want, whenever they want as it's 500/70 wherever they are in the home!

Yeah we basically use this wifi for vr live streaming and the other isp for everything else. I don't like too many connected devices 😆

The image is a screenshot of my bufferbloat which I find a really good test. Anything less than an A result you get issues in games and calls live streaming etc. I measured the wifi being 15ft from the Router through the kitchen open door looking into froontrom where the router is. That's the issue we have and that's with 1 person live streaming vr now and my phone of course 😆

@SatanSlayerUK Not sure what you have got going on there with your network but something is not right and was doing them for someone like yourself who was having network issues on the standard ISP Router, think it was the BT Smarthub2 at the time on the EE Network so was a couple off months ago, i could not compare apples to apples, but got him upto a Grade B with a few tweaks! You will see the pics when they get approved!

Yeah I'm looking for mesh and router suggestions. I get A+ playing vr in the same room as the router I've plugged the mesh in at moment so the wifi 7 can reach the kitchen. I swear it's these walls lol

Re: Sky Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ Sky WiFi Max Not covering our whole house

@SatanSlayerUK That is just far too hard for anyone to recommend, especially when trying to game, and do it all wireless, but minimum you want is a Triband Network and high speed backhaul's if you can, too much mesh wireless is just as bad as not enough! Serious wireless wifi equipment cost's serious money, it's a balance and one silly wifi app on a mobile can kill a network stone dead with background connect's!
