Re: Sky Broadband and MER - a tale - Fellowship of the MER

Since you're of that era - little known fact about Racal. Had you invested £100 in their shares in the early 1960s you would have been able to sell them for just over a million quid in 2000. Also nobody remembers that Racal invented the mobile phone as we know it now. Also Chubb, Camelot etc were Racal companies

It was a good company to work for in the 80s/early 90s.

We digress.

Re: Sky Broadband and MER - a tale - Fellowship of the MER

True but it's fun of course.

I actually used a Racal " brick" portable phone in the 80s, huge separate battery and compared to what we have now.......

Anyway, I have been round the house with Speedtest and surprised to find I get 47 Mbs everywhere. Three stories and admittedly a 1989 house so a few single leaf breeze block walls and a few wooden stud walls. But none the less as I get 49 at the modem that's not bad. Not WiFi 6 of course but now that will do I think. The research has been useful as it's clarified the issue and with your help the potential solution. But until Sky move away from IPoE I or I change ISP my ideal solution is not possible. Especially is I get FTTP which makes life easier

I'd like an AP setup but that will have to wait until I move

Thanks again for your help and the chat as well

Merry Christmas 🎅
