Sky Broadband Ultrafast Plus and TP Deco M5 Speeds much lower than through Sky Hub router
Hello,
We have just moved ISP from Virgin to Sky Broadband Ultrafast Plus (500 Mb/s).
We have three TP Deco M5 home mesh connected to the Sky Hub, with both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz WiFi Frequencies disabled.
My issue is that the Download speed through the M5 units is massively lower than at the base, or when using the Sky Hub (with WiFi switched on). Typically this is c490 Mb/s at the base (tested in Deco App) and rarely higher than 200 Mb/s through the Decos (Ookla Speedtest).
I've amended the Total Bandwidth in QoS to 1024 (Download ) and 128 (Upload) to no improvement.
Am I missing something? Any and all help gratefully recieved.

If the speeds are fine coming from your Sky Hub and the base unit of the Deco system then this suggests a problem with the TP-Link mesh units themselves. Have you asked TP-Link support about it?

Hello @jamesn123,
Thank you for taking the time to pick up my post.
I have contacted TP-Support as well as the Community, so far to no avail.
I posted here as I'm confident that with my previous Virgin M350 (362 Mbps) broadband, the Deco's delivered far closer to the average advertised download speed than now with Sky.
We can happily get by on 2-300 Mbps, however, I'd sooner get what I'm paying for if it's an easy fix or oversight on my part.
Cheers

Have you moved the Sky router to bridge mode and the Deco's to AP? Maybe double NAT?

@max+bank there is no bridge mode on a Sky hub and while using tge Deco units in Access Point mode is sensible to avoid a Double NAT it shouldn't affect speeds not affect speeds.
@JulietCharlie this is quite odd my own experience with my own Deco M4 units is they deliver the full 500Mb/s in my main living area but of course speeds are lower when tested on one of the satellite units in a more distant room.

Interested to know if you found a fix. Have exactly the problem you describe with M5s giving half the speed of Sky.
