Sites still blocked despite broadband shield off, why?
It is outrageous breach of my privacy, am a new customer and feel like cancelling already. I disabled broadband shield and gave exemptions to 2 torrent sites (I only download legal content) yet Sky blocks these sites despite shield being disabled, showt of getting a VPN how do I change settings to access these 2 sites

Re: Sites still blocked despite broadband shield off, why?
An ISP typically doesn't know what a user is downloading, but does know where it's coming from. If they are, for example, under UK court order to block access to particular web resources then that's what they'll do, irrespective of the content being accessed by any particular subscriber.

Thanks for the reply, I was previously with BT until last week and they didnt have those 2 sites blocked, so surely if it was a court thing every ISP would block?

@F1Chris1965 Not being able to access sites which will allow access to pirated content is not a breach of your privacy.
It's quite possible that since leaving BT and joining Sky that those sites have been added to the list of banned sites.
What are the sites?

Re: Sites still blocked despite broadband shield off, why?
Okay for starters lets calm down a little. Its not an outrageous breach of privacy.
If you have disabled Sky Broadband shield this can take up to 24hrs to take affect so if it hasnt been 24hrs give it until then and try again.
If its still blocked after 24hrs then the site has likely received a court order block which Sky have to comply with. It doesn't matter if you only download legal content its likely that the site has also hosted illegal content at some point and received the court order.
