Most broadband suppliers seem to hear (via Open Reach or your new supplier) within hours that you have signed up with a rival.
In our experience, they email to say they're sorry you're leaving and to call if you didn't place the order or want to stay with them. (This can be useful as you occasionally discover an order has been bungled or miscommunicated to Open Reach.)
We bought a broadband package with another firm yesterday (April 2nd). All confirmed, activation date is set.
We haven't yet received any email or text from Sky acknowledging our departure. Nothing in Account or Messages either.
If you changed ISP, how quickly did Sky contact you?

You should normally get a notification within 24 hours or less depending on the time of day you placed the order
was it with another openreach served provider or someone like virgin or a altnet provider?
did you request a number port or a new number as all these will affect if or when sky are notified of a change

It's been nearly 48 hours with nothing from Sky. There shouldn't be too much communication difficulty since we're moving to Sky-owned Now, both Open Reach clearly.
Perhaps because we're (sort of) staying in the family, they don't make much effort at retention?
We were told while placing the order that our phone number would be changed, which we have no problem with.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@How2 transfers between Sky and Now do appear to throw up issues on occasions so its worth checking withbSky they have had a notfication of the switch. The two customer service operations are entirely separate but the technical sidecare the same.
