@David538 As it's a domestic installation, or none installation in your case OR operate on working days which are Monday to Friday and excludes public holidays so likely no update until Tuesday as advised by Sky customer service.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Signed up to Sky in late March live in London, Broadband still not installed in July,

Hi David

Your story is very similar although I am the architect of my broadband downfall.

We had a Sky broadband which was on the copper network, worked great,  brilliant speed.  They wanted to increase the monthly cost and wouldnt budge from £45 that I cancelled and went with Virgin, this was without realising that copper was no longer available.  The new Virgin hub arrived and with nowhere to plug it in we then cancelled that thinking we will just go back to sky and re-connect and from there  we have been on the rollercoaster with Sky.  In hindsight we should have stuck with Virgin and waited for them but my loaylty to sky and being a customer for 30 years made me stick with them.  They apparently couldnt re-connect me to the copper network, big NO NO aparently so I have to wait for Openreach.

We have now been waiting for OR to sort a fibre install for 4 months,  we have had 3  made and then cancelled appointments.  Following the same pattern every time, confirm the appointment on Wednesday and then cancel and make new appointment on Thursday.  This weeks new appointment is 4th September.      The distance between the BT manhole cover and the wall of my house is 40cm and Sky are describing this as 'heavy civils' which seems excessive.

I called Sky yesterday and feel like I might have got through to someone that can make something happen, the tone of the call and the subsequent emails have made me feel like I have finally been escalated !    Even offered to re-connect me to the copper network as a temporary fix,   why couldnt this be offered 4 months ago ?  However,   they  have till Tuesday to make one last attempt to appease me before I chuck in the towel and head off to Virgin which is what I should have done 3 months ago.

In the meantime I have been working from home and streaming tv etc using mobile hotspotting,  lucky we have good 5g coverage and this is probably the reason we have let this run on so long.

None of this is any use to you  but i found it helpful to know it wasnt personal and that there are a lot of people out there waiting for Openreach !

@30yearsLR At 40cm why with such a short distance that's not even 2 foot, would be more a hand dig for that!

Any distance through public space (particularly roadway or pavement) requires all the statutory notifications to be sent out, received and acknowledged and the work to be carried out at the same standard.

Still think 4 months is too long for any organisation to get their ducks in a row and deliber the service they are being paid for.

Virgin chapped my door this afternoon and have guaranteed delivery and installation within 5 days so have left Sky and signed up to Virgin.

Virgin has its own long-established private coaxial cable network which it isn't expanding: Openreach is attempting 85,000 new full-fibre installations every week to hit the national target of 85% coverage by end of December 2026

Our latest communication from Sky will be we will receive an update sometime later this week, like the other user in this thread, maybe we should also consider Virgin too as the delays  we have had with Sky are unacceptable, given the house previous was supplied by Sky and we continue to not get any firm commitments on resolution.  I have now the opportunity as our frromal complaint has been open over 2 months to escalate further.

Unfortunately the ISP remaining the same makes absolutely no difference where a migration from copper to fibre-optic is involved.
