We signed up for Sky in December, and they contacted openreach to fit the cables etc (because our house is a new build so no pre-existing infrastructure). We have had 4 visits from openreach engineers who keep saying we need a road closure which takes a minimum of 3 months to achieve and it hasn't been applied for yet, but every time they come, they say the same thing! Sky say there is nothing they can do about it, but openreach will only communicate with them, not us. What can we do?! We've been paying Sky for a service we still haven't received, we're just going round in circles

I'd think the broadband subscription shouldn't have started before activation: are you actually paying for that, or for Sky television?
Was the project registered with Openreach before construction started?
Unfortunately a road closure (and presumably other works, either duct or pole) could easily take a very substantial time to clear bureaucracy, particularly if it's a significant highway.
If you actually had a confirmed activation date eight months ago, the compensation payment will be interesting...
