Second broadband fibre service required.
Hi
I work from home and I am looking for a failover broadband service. I have a fibre to the property already which is terribly unreliable so need a better primary service.
- Can Sky install a new fibre service to my property to work alongside my other service?
- Would they need to pull a new cable through from the ground box in the street to my property?
- My soon-to-be secondary service is Virgin Media. Is the Sky infrastructure suitably independent from VM so it will work if one goes down? (Obviously there are shared services so this is acknowledged)

If they don't currently supply service, then in theory, yes, but the default would be a takeover ('switch') rather than provision of a second circuit. The one-touch-switch system has recently been widened to cover Virgin Media.

If there's currently no Openreach FTTP at the address, then yes. Sky could not provide service over Virgin fibre-optic cable and ONT.

Virgin coaxial cable is entirely separate. Their FTTP may share some upstream physical infrastructure (poles and ducts) with Openreach circuits.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
