Brought a printer home from work and configured the scan to email function. Unfortunately it will not send, I took the printer to my neighbour who is with plusnet and worked with not issues. There must be a configuration on the router or elsewhere which is causing this issue. There are no outgoing ports on the router blocked nor is the firewall enabled. Any help would be appreciated. I've tested both wireless and ethernet connection to no avail.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Kevin+Ravo it is most likely a IP address issue. Sky use a range of 192.168.0.1 which is the hub's address (the gateway) and can only address devices in the range 192.168.0.2 to .254. Plusnet uses a different range so check the printer is either set to get an IP address from the router or is using an address in the right range.
I hope you have not disabled the firewall as it is the equivelent of leaving your front door wide open itis not an issue in your current problem - it blocks incoming traffic from third party devices not traffic intiated by devices on your network.

Will investigate that route, many thanks. Oh and I would never dream of turning my firewall off. 😁

@Kevin+Ravo most printers with scanning facilities can scan directly to your device. You don't state the make or model but it might help if you go to the manufacturer's website and download and install their full printer drivers and software package.
Then you may be able to scan to a folder then attach the scanned file to any emails.

Pleased to report that his is now resolved. After trying every combination of settings to no avail. I performed a factory reset of all settings then went through configuring SMTP settings and it worked like it should. Resolved.
