Samsung phone - wifi dropping with Sky Max hub

I have a new Samsung Galaxy A36 5G. My wifi drops continuously from our Sky Max hub. I have been through the 10 troubleshooting steps Samsung suggest, apart from a factory reset. However, at another house over Christmas, which had a standard Sky hub, there was no issue.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you.

@JAEH it is worth checking that your hub is running with a WiFi security setting of WPA2 as opposed to the higher standard of WPA3-T which can upset some Samsung decices. The setting is in the Hub's advanced settings arwa of the My Sky app.

However, if as I suspect, that doesn't help the issue could simply be poor WiFi signal level in areas of your hime where the phone drops the signal. If you install  a free app, called WiFi Analyzer on the phone you will be able to see the signal strength of all WiFi networks in range with the channel they use and signal level. You need a signal level of -70dBm to have a usable connection. A neighbour's network on the same or adjacent channel wil, cause interference.

Signal strength depends on the layout and type of construction of your home which is far more important than the model of hub you have both the older black hubs and your white hub have similar ranges. If you pay for Sky's WiiFi Max pack they will send a pod extender out which can help or you can instead use third party WiFi equipment but it is sensible to use one or other and not mix the two.

Re: Samsung phone - wifi dropping with Sky Max hub

@JAEH It's all to do with the samsung wireless wifi on the phone nothing else, i had the exact same with my A54 using a 5G sim, although i never dropped the wireless wifi completely the speed download was 17/70Mb/s compaired to it's normal 500/70Mb/s and the wife's A32 never suffered.... It was all down to the Router wireless strength and fitting a new AP were the phone struggled not had it again for months now!

Testing it i just left the phone always near the Router and it was fine for a couple off day's, then back moving about oops started acting up again! I would have swore blind that it was not a signal issue as the norm was -58db or around that value!

@JimM1 Thanks for your response. I'm sorry, but I'm a novice. What do you mean by AP and how did you rectify this issue?

Cheers.

Re: Samsung phone - wifi dropping with Sky Max hub

@JAEH AP is an Access Point, basically a form of controlled wireless wifi boosting with that particular one Ethernet Backhaul connected.

Do suggest that 1. you just keep the phone in range off your sky Max hub wireless wifi connection and see how it all goes connection wise, the speed fix for me was easy, all i had to do was switch off the wireless wifi connection on the phone for 10 seconds, when back on it instantly went up to full speed again, was a little confusing as when it dropped speed it JUST would never recover on it's own at all!

As you have the latest Android then you should see the Number 6 in the wireless bars displayed indicating you are connected wifi6 mode! Mobile phone for me is just a tool for making calls and i just never bothered working out what they do but did try all the different settings etc that were available and as i say the wifes A32 just never faultered in anyway...

Re: Samsung phone - wifi dropping with Sky Max hub

@JAEH And as a seperate, there is nothing stopping you, you have already observed that on the older sky Broadband  Hub, probably looked the same as yours but was black in colour, is a wifi5 device and operates way different to the sky Max wifi6 that YOU have,,, all your problems disappeared but only you can say that, but would not think any different myself as more suited, as @Chrisee said go look at the WPA3-T and if on that get it back to WPA2-PSK! Advanced option on the MySky app, linked below for you!
