SKY WiFi causing my phone location to be the incorrect country

I have recently noticed that my iPhone, when I am searching the web, defines my IP as being in the Netherlands. I am, in fact, based in the UK.

This is a recent change, that I noticed after I downloaded and signed up for Nord VPN. I don't know if that has updated the WiFi settings or messed around with the IP on my phone, but it has.

I have checked my IP address for both my iPhone and my Macbook on whatismyip.com, then checked those against the IP addresses on our myrouter.io gateway.

The phone IP doesn't make sense, its different, whereas the Mac IP matches.

Can anyone pleaes help me resolve this issue, I want my phone to be UK as well, and have no idea how to go about fixing this.

Thanks

@JW861 Think you will find all of the Nord VPN is run out off Holland!

@JW861 @You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but isn't that exactly what a VPN is designed to do? Doesn't it mask your IP address and therefore your location?

Exactly @Sharcuk , @JW861 if your phone is running the VPN app it will show whatever country the app is set to. Close the app or set it to Uk.

Re: SKY WiFi causing my phone location to be the incorrect country

Not exactly what I meant. Totally understand how VPN's work, and the app.

I deleted Nord VPN. So I could then test the web experience / location without that impacting anything. If I look at whatismyip.com without Nord VPN even installed on my phone, the location is set as netherlands, so it makes me think it is on the WiFi Settings end of things.

I was still getting a location of the netherlands come up. Also, shopping searches in google all come up in Euro's which confirms it for me.

Regarding Nord VPN being dutch, what happens in the app is that you can trust your existing wifi, and when I do that it sets the location as Netherlands.

I'm struggling to work it out.

@JW861

I don't see how this is a Sky problem, if your Macbook is showing the correct public IP from the UK that your router is using then the issue is whatever Nord VPN has done to your phone. You'll need to take this up with Nord themselves.
