SKY Broadband - Issues with YouTube app and Google Play Store

Hi everyone

 

Bit of a strange one with the problem only starting yesterday.....

 

Broadband working fine with speeds of around 70, Xbox gaming working fine, laptop working fine, mobile phone connection fine.....

 

Since yesterday whilst using the YouTube app on my phone videos won't load at all, also, I cannot download anything from the Google play store - I have reset the router, uninstalled apps, reinstalled them, ensured I have enough storage etc but the problem remains.

 

I called SKY who also run a health check and everything is fine ..... the kicker is, I turn wifi off on my phone and YouTube works as does downloading apps on play store. As soon as I click wifi back on, nothing apart from constantly pending.

 

I haven't adjusted any settings so am I open to ideas or suggestions as I am baffled!

There have been repeated posts about intermittent routing issues between Sky Broadband and Google infrastructure (which includes YouTube)

Thank you for replying. 

 

I have just got off the phone from SKY who said broadband is working fine and EE (my mobile provider) who said my phone is working fine.

 

As a technophobe is this a known issue as I have been absolutely fine with youtube app and google play store for over a year with this device until it went to not working mode last night

I see you've found the big thread.  Like I said it's a core network issue rather than anything at a customer address.

Likewise, been informed I will get an update in the next 72 hours. Others have reported the same issue today on this thread too...

If you don't mind me asking, how are they going to inform you?

 

You would have thought SKY would have put something on their website in MYSKY outlining the problems to save them getting loads of calls and customers who pay good money getting frustrated.

Hi all.  I seem to be working ok this morning (Leicestershire). I was only noticing the issue with app updates (dont use YouTube on phone so no idea if that was an issue for me or not) but all my app updates came down successfully via wifi just now, so hopefully Leicestershire at least is sorted, fingers crossed. Will update again if problem returns.
