Hi,
Our Sky router seems to be kicking off every wifi connection at the same time, at least once a day for the past few days.
I have recently disabled the 5G band to help with our IoT devices, and have allocated static IPs to most of them (in case it was a DHCP issue). So far we've had no issues with devices connecting except for when the router just kicks everything off all at once. The light on the router is still showing as connected to the internet, so I don't believe it's a "traffic jam" as I think that usually causes it to reboot.
Could anybody help? I've asked my friends and family and no one else has experienced this before. Our Sky router was new this year (2022).
Happy to provide more info if needed!
also prepared to buy a 3rd party router if it will stop all these issues from happening - perhaps there's something made with a modern "smart"-home in mind?
Thanks,
Rory

36.8 is our max download speed - we're on overhead cables

Would this affect my wifi connections? if I go by the lights on the router, it's still connected to the internet, but I can't connect to the wifi using the correct password.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rorycsIf this is the case it looks like the devices are trying to connect to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi unless you have 2 different passwords for the Wi-Fi bands?

The 5g band is disabled and has a different name, also i don't think it would explain why everything is disconnected at the same time?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWhat you are describing sounds exactly like WiFi stalling which happens when the WiFi band you are using becomes very congested. This is very likely to happen since you've disabled 5ghz on the router and are forcing all your devices to use 2.4ghz which is shared with literally every other router out there along with appliances like microwaves.
I recommend you re-enable 5ghz and spread the load a bit.
