Return or recycle broadband equipment?

Had old broadband equipment for years! . (Since changing Broadband Supplier) Never had  a request to return it - Therefore asking can I recycle it ?or do you require me to return it?                                             Clive Atack.

The website says " find a recycling centre near you. Or you can return it to your local Sky retail Shop for recycling." The Sky agent in Telford Town Centre said that no shop would take it - just chuck it in the bin!!!!!
