Re: Replacing Sky hub with ASUS RT-AX82U V2

@Chrisee @TimmyBGood @mae-3  Judging by the many recent posts on the forum mine doesn't seem to be an isolated case. Coincidence or a hardware issue? Going back to interference being a likely reason could an Ethernet cable plugged in to the router be a possible interference issue? Back in May I ran 3 cables to the router, with one of those cables split in to 2 using a splitter. Too much for the router to handle maybe?

Re: Replacing Sky hub with ASUS RT-AX82U V2

@Chrisee  Going back to my original post about the Asus router, another reason to maybe use it rather than the Sky hub is that at any one time there's a lot of devices connected to the hub, including 5 Ethernet connections. We also have a holiday let next to our property that uses the hub, they use a BT Wholehome mesh through the router. I sometimes think this all might be too much for the router to handle.

@Bobbiecool switching touters is down to you but my Sky hub has more than 20 devices connected without issue.. Sky hubs lack some of the bells and whistles of the more expensive routers like QOS and can run out of puff if you have multiple gamers or video streamers at once.

Re: Replacing Sky hub with ASUS RT-AX82U V2

@Chrisee @mae-3  Thought you guys might be interested to know what's been happening with my issue, as many other Sky users have been having the same issue with no solution. After the last Openreach engineer said the only thing left to change is another router I asked Sky to send one, which they did. Within 30mins of swapping routers I had a dropout, followed by a few more that same day. I'd had enough of the whole saga and demanded they release me from my contract so I can move to a different isp, which they duly obliged. I'm aware there's a high probability that changing my isp will not solve my issue, but I had to try something. I was also made aware that Sky were the only isp that used their own software at my local exchange. I started the process of changing my isp, with my new one going live this Friday, however 3 days after I started the process the dropouts stopped, it's now been over 1 week without a dropout, the router stats show 172hours  and counting. All very odd that it coincided with me in the process of leaving...

I, i am thinking of changing to the same set up as i have the same issues.  Did the Asus router work out well?

@T1bbo Asus routers are popular choice as they are relatively easy to set up to connect to Sky's UK services which isnt true of other brands. Changing a router cannot sort line issues but can help if you need features like QOS etc thst Sky's hubs offer.
