Replace Sky Q Mesh with ASUS ZenWiFi XD5
Following on from this post where I described my initial setup: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Configuring-Sky-Superfast-FTTC-gt-TP-Link-TD-W9970-modem-only...
Thanks to @cookiemonsteruk for help on my original query!
I'm considering introducing a 3-pack of ASUS ZenWifi XD5s to join the TUF-AX3000 Asus Router as our house has approx 15 rooms across 3 floors.
Our current setup is:
FTTC > TP-Link TD-W9970 > ASUS TUF-AX3000
- Sky Q Main Box (satellite wired connection, WiFi connection to AUS TUF-AX3000)
- 2x Sky Q Mini Boxes (WiFi Hotspots enabled)
- Sky Broadband Booster (Model E210)
Would the following setup work?
FTTC > TP-Link TD-W9970 > ASUS TUF-AX3000 ~wifi connection~> XD5s as WAPs
- Sky Q Main Box (satellite wired connection, connected via WiFi still to the ASUS AiMesh)
- Each Sky Q Mini Box via Ethernet to a different XD5 (WiFi Hotspots disabled)
- Sky Broadband Booster (Model E210) removed, but I think it won't be needed anymore if the XD5s provide wider coverage.
- Third XD5 covering a weaker spot in the house
If not, what variations of this would work?
And when I'm losing the Sky Broadband Booster from this setup, will I actually find signal strength stronger?

Re: Replace Sky Q Mesh with ASUS ZenWiFi XD5
@stevenayers hard wiring the Q boxes is sensible and the XD5 units should give better coverage and edinitely get rid of the Q booster.

Re: Replace Sky Q Mesh with ASUS ZenWiFi XD5
Thanks @Chrisee! Will this setup work when the Sky Q Main box is only connected via Wifi to the main network?

Re: Replace Sky Q Mesh with ASUS ZenWiFi XD5
@stevenayers yup but the main Q box can only connect to the 2.4GHz band on third party wifi - the 5GHz is used to connectvto any Q minis so I would turn off the boxes 5GHz wifi band if you decide to connect that way
