Hi all,
I'm trying to ditch my SR204 GFast router in favour of a modem/OPNSense firewall combo. Having read the forums I've bought an Openreach ZT Link MT992 modem and have a PC with OPNSense installed on it.
I've followed the OPNSense guide to setup DHCP authentication but the modem does not provide internet to the OPNSense PC. The DSL light on the modem flashes and then goes solid but the internet light never lights up and I don't get internet.
I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the authentication setup. The guide is for VDSL but I don't think that should matter. I did see one thread which mentions that the WAN needs to be VLAN tagged but I've not seen this mentioned anywhere else.
If anyone else has achieved this, I'd be interested to know where I've gone wrong.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Chrisee.
I looked at this again this morning and noticed a couple of errors in the OPNSense logs. Basically I copy/pasted the dhcp-client-identifier string from the page I was looking at (might have been the one you linked, can't remember)
Anyway, i noticed in the OPNSense logs there was an error sending the password coming from the file in which they're saved.
It turns out the speech marks around the username/password looked correct on that page and the OPNSense GUI, but looking at the file in which it's stored, they were in fact "continental" speech marks which had were angled. The file was not parsing properly as a result.
Once edited to be correct, the file parsed correctly and I've got my setup working correctly and can ditch the Sky router.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@DanE018 this page explains how to set up the Opensense to authenticarte your Sky connection assuming you are in the UK https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/SkyUK.html from a quick read it looks correct. When typing the string used for Option61 you need a pipe symbol (often a |) between the username anything@skydsl section and the password section. The content of the first part of the username and tge whole password doesn't matter.
