Removing fibre cables and war between sky and openreach

I signed upto fibre broadband as I was advised it's now installed in my area this was back in April 2025. Openreach engineer came out to install it, I.e drill small holes to insert a white cable and add a white small box to the wall. After he installed it he advised it was not working and another Openreach engineer needed to come out. Openreach engineers would just show up without any prior notice not once not twice but several times for 2 months. But my fibre broadband has never ever worked. I continue to use my old one. Eventually I cancelled it. And I called sky yesterday to ask them to remove the cables, they provided an open reach contact number and all options are automated no option to remove the cables. I called Sky back today they advised I need to let Openreach know the it's damage to the property and for that reason I would need to go back to open reach to have this removed. But after calling again there is only automated options and now I am not sure what happens with these cables that are installed quite visibly in my hallway and are of no use. Anyone else had same issue please advise

Given it's the ultimate aim of Openreach to remove copper circuits entirely, I think they are going to be naturally reluctant to come back and dismantle the replacement technology.

Re: Removing fibre cables and war between sky and openreach

@SJ111 As @TimmyBGood has pointed out, but think your request was to get rid off the Fibre, that is not going to happen and OR will continue to get it working even though it is proving problematic for them currently, and resources they will be in the background trying to fix, with your fttc copper up and working and the switchover failed the pressure is well off them as you are not down hard and fast with no internet, had it been that way then different story all together. Things go wrong and NO one knows apart from the OR boys/girls whats going on with it! There product, there line, and sky is the customer with you the end user!
