Recently upgraded to sky full fibre 500

Engineer wasn't able to use same location for the router position as we already had due to not being able to pull the cable through to outside the house. He had to move the router to the gable end of house. It was previously positioned in the middle of the house. Now the router wi fi signal won't reach up stairs to the opposite side of the house. I had go out and buy a mesh wi fi extender for the room in question. Still not great. Is the router up to the task in its new location? I am not sure it is. Please advise.
