Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
It could be overnight maintenance taking place.
If it still down later then the first thing to check is this link to see if there are any outages in your area:
https://www.sky.com/servicechecker
If there isn't try running the line test here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start
You can also run the test via the MySky app on a mobile data connection.
After this has finished and if it reports back all is good click on broadband to run an updated test. If you get amber or red please follow the on screen instructions.
If someone has helped you then please click on the LIKES button in their post.
If you need help please provide as much information as you can

Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
@Sandra67 The times coincide with the time Sky Q boxes switch off their wifi hotspots if set to the eco standby mode. Therefore if tou have Q boxes change their standby setting to active or none and devices using the WiFi hot spots will no longer lose connection overnight.

Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
Don't waste your time with this.
I have tried every possible option. The only safe solution is to NEVER connect your Sky Q box to the internet. You can still view and record programmes, but you'll not be able to use things like YouTube or view bills via the Q box.
Here is why this is all happening:
The Sky Q box gives out a hotspot signal at all times (even if not connected to internet) with a Sky name different from your router Sky name. You can test this by viewing available WiFi signals from any device. You will see your normal broadband router name (SKY if your with Sky) and a different Sky name coming from your Sky Q (also SKY).
If you have Sky broadband, and you connect your Sky Q box to the internet (which requires the WPS button on your router), the Sky Q box will never allow you to disable the hotspot feature and, for some reason, the Sky Q box itself then takes over control of your router WiFi to become the device that gives out WiFi signal to ALL of your devices.
Therefore, when internet cuts out from your Sky Q box, internet will ALSO cut out for ALL of your devices THAT YOU BELIEVE ARE ONLY CONNECTED TO YOUR ROUTER.
And yes, this means that when your Sky Q box is regularly cutting off its own internet during the night (~2:45am), it will also be cutting off internet for all your home devices. This will build up errors, update problems, and horrible glitches on devices like Amazon Alexa, which in my case eventually caused it to become unresponsive.
Important: no matter what you do with the Eco or standby settings on Sky Q, even if all of the options are turned off, the box WILL STILL cut out the internet at night, leading to all these other problems, simply because you have chosen to connect your Sky Q box to the internet.
This situation may only be the case if you're broadband is with Sky, due to the WPS button method of connecting your Sky Q to internet. I'm not sure what happens if you try to connect it to Virgin Broadband, for example. Perhaps it all works fine if not using the WPS button, or perhaps exactly the same situation unfolds even if not using the button, which would not surprise me in the slightest.
So, like I said at the beginning, until Sky gets their act together and sorts this problem out, connecting your Sky Q box to your Sky broadband internet (and perhaps other internet providers) puts ALL of your other devices at risk of becoming unresponsive. There is no way to prevent the Sky Q box from cutting off internet to itself and all router-connected devices at night.
The ONLY safe method therefore, is to NEVER connect your Sky Q box to the internet. That way, you KNOW that ALL of your devices are connected to where they SHOULD be connected: to your router, and not Sky Q.
I hope this helps to clear things up!

I'd observe that many millions of households have been using Sky Q hardware with internet connections for the past nine years.
I suspect what you are observing is the overnight reboot introduced in a firmware update several years ago, apparently to deal with a memory leak.

Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
What is a memory leak? What memory is leaking?!
Anyway, so now those millions of households are now potentially suffering from broken and unresponsive gadgets, which they attribute to the gadgets themselves, if they have no idea that their Sky Q boxes are cutting their Wi-Fi.
Doesn't matter whether it's a reboot or hotspot or something else. What matters is that it causes chaos, and has no solution other than to disconnect Sky Q from the internet.
No solution, that is, until Sky provides a permanent fix.

A memory leak is a software bug where memory is allocated, but never de-allocated by a certain function and eventually you run out of system resources.
Most modern programming languages prevent this by automating the memory management.

Main box and second box were already in no e mode when checked so that's not the problem

Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
@Sandra67 the reason I suggested the possible cause is the timing is the same. However if the Q boxes are not in eco standby mode it is difficult to think of another reason for regular loss of connection for those hours. There are no timers in the hub and while overnight maintenance can be an issue it normally starts and ends earlier and only happens rarely although it can last for a few nights.
Very strange.

Re: Internet dies from 2:45am/3am to 5:45am/6am every morning.
Isn't that what I just said?! The only way to not use the Sky Q Wi-Fi, as a Sky Broadband customer, is to never connect the box to the internet. As soon as you do, it removes the ability for you to access hotspot options (turning it on or off) and forces all of your devices to run their Wi-Fi through the box.
