RAX200 Netgear, unable to connect to FTTP Sky.

I posted last night regarding using my Netgear Nighthawk RAX200 router instead of the supplied Sky Hub as I am seeing 'double NAT' which is causing me some bother.  

Mae kindly supplied me some details but I have been unable to get things going unfortunately.  

I am on the following firmware,  which is the latest version available. 

 .. and I have added the 'option 61'connection string as provided here and shown below.

Despite this, I am not seeing it connect to the Internet.  I've rebooted the openreach port, router etc.  Is there any other option I  can try by any chance?

All looks fine, with a auto ip try adding manual dns and add skys or another manual. 

Else dose your router require login you tried that on?

The sky router connects ok?

Else may be a netgear issue

P.s also on the pic you have a account name, as your router that prob should be blank.

The settings look good but once you have supplied the settings for DHCP Option 61 and applied the settings the Sky Hub should have been disconnected from the ONT for about 30 minutes before plugging in the RAX200. This enables the Sky headend to forget about the previous router connected and be ready for the new router.

@mae-3  really?! I had no idea about that! 

I did actually find another setting and was going to give this another try this evening editing the following, if you think it is worth a shot, or should I just stick to the connection 61 portion for now? (Please see attached!) 

(The setting I am changing is the top one, when the router is connected via the hub this is set to off)

The reason for wanting to try changing the above is this attached section in the manual.

You can also use DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation (PD) as well. Theoretically, either is required but both can be set up for completeness.

Thanks again @mae-3 , I'll do a complete factory reset, leave the fibre box unconnected to anything for 30 mins then run though the set up and make those changes and see where we are!

To enable SLAAC (Stateless Address Autoconfiguration) on the LAN side with DHCPv6 PD (Prefix Delegation) on the RAX200 router, you can follow these steps:

1. Log in to your RAX200 router's web interface.

2. Navigate to the "Advanced" settings and click on the "IPv6" tab.

3. Under the "IPv6" tab, select "DHCPv6-PD" as the WAN Connection Type.

4. Check the box for "Get automatically from ISP".

5. Under the "LAN Setup" section, select "DHCPv6 Server + RA" as the IPv6 assignment type.

6. Enter the LAN IPv6 Prefix that you want to assign to your devices. This can be any valid IPv6 prefix that falls within the delegated prefix that your ISP provided.

7. Check the box for "Enable SLAAC".

8. Click "Apply" to save the changes.

@mae-3  thanks again mae, I'll do that when I'm setting this all up.  Everyone is the household is done with their requirement for Internet for the evening, so the Hub is off and unplugged from the fibre box and I'll leave it for 30 mins before trying this!

@mae-3 We did it! I am not sure if it was leaving the hub disconnected for 30 minutes or the additional ipv6 steps we took but thankfully I am now connected via the RAX200 only and I can ditch the Hub entirely. 

Methodology was:  Unplug Hub,  wait 30 minutes.  Full factory reset, run through standard set up - no Internet.  Add connection 61 string, no Internet.  Change ipv6 connection to DCHP - Success! 

The only issue I have now is that the internal speed test (which is via the Nighthawk app, and by Speedtest.net) is giving speeds that are way off what I am expecting.  On of the reasons for going down this route was seeing these poor speeds in the double NAT set up and thinking it was because of the Hub > RAX set up but they persist.  

Strangely, running the test on my phone, not the router, via WiFi gives much better results. 

It's never simple, but at least the RAX is connected to the Internet directly!

If you are below the minimum guarantee speed (MGS) then a call to Sky will be needed so they can rectify the situation.
