Questions about using my own router, before I sign up to Sky

Hi,

I am not a Sky customer, but thinking about become one and have some questions, about the broadband.

1. Is it still corrent the Hub can not be put into Modem only mode?

2. I will want to use my own router, so I presume I need to connect to the Sky Hub. If there is no modem mode, can I turn off the wifi on the Sky Hub, so the router would do everything instead?

3. In the case of using my own router, would it be possible to turn off the firewall on the Sky Hub has so that the router can handle it instead?

Regards,

Gaz

I couldn't find the edit link, so had to reply.

What I am wanting is for the 3rd party router, to do everything, in regards, to wifi and the routing of the traffic/data, once it plugged into the sky hub.

What connection do you have at the minute. Superfast fttc or ultrafast fttp?

To keep your landline you must use the sky router and ethernet to any router that has access point mode

To totally replace the sky hub the asus rt ax series of routers will work along with asus zenwifi directly connected to an fttp ont or with a seperate modem bridge if you have a vdsl fttc line

Re: Questions about using my own router, before I sign up to Sky

Hi,

I just moved and don't have a connection at the minute, so need to come around to my brother house to use his.

So would a TP Link Archer AX6000 be ok, to do what I want?

To see what connections are available could you enter your full postal address below and post the table and notes after removing you address from the image

The router mentioned would have an 80% chance of working with sky

Then to use the routing, nat and dhcp functions you would need a seperate  modem like the tp link td w9970 or a combined modem router such as the asus dsl ac models or the asus dsl ax82u which is wifi 6

Hi.

@cookiemonsterukJust want to touch on this again, would the TP Link AX1800 VDSL (Deco X20-DSL) work?
