Once enabled in the tp link router, how do you set it up to work with xbox or ps4?
There are speeds I have to dial into the interface of tp link for qos to work, what do I put in that?

It says "QoS will take effect only when the total network traffic rate is greater than the bandwidth you have set here."
I am not sure what they mean by this.

Here's the tp link faq foq the three types of qos
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/2797/
Basically you look at your actual download speed and your devices. Then figure out how much each device needs
E.G. a speed of 80Mbps and you have the xbox you might want to allocate a fair amount to allow for downloads , an hd tv maybe 15Mbps or uhd tv say 30Mbps , maybe a few mobile devices 5-10Mbps. Then qos will kick in once a device goes over its bandwidth allocatiom. Thats just a simple example as there may be times you want to update mobile apps at a higher speed

hmm. I just need it to kick in when someone watches netflix as that causes alot of issues for my ps4.
So what do you suggest I put in as speed?

I assume your problem with the PS4 is lag or latency spikes when gaming - correct?
The problem with streaming services like Netflix is that they don't actually produce a constant stream of data (5Mb/s for HD and 20Mb/s for UHD).
They acually burst this at much higher rates so whilst the average is still 5Mb/s for HD the peak can be more than four times that.
What this means for your PS4 is that every 2-4 seconds you get latency spikes even if you have a resonable download speed.
To set the QoS figures you will need to know what stream rate you use (HD or UHD).
Then set the download QoS to just above that figure (say 20Mb/s) .
Finally set your PS4 to be a Priority device.
This will only work if your internet dowload speed is significantly faster than that.
Also, your PS4 must not share the same WiFi bandwidth as your streaming device. Ideally the PS4 must be connected with an Ethernet cable.

As you have found out the QoS on TP-Link routers is pretty poor and for those that read this and are encountering the same issue then purchasing a router with good QoS pick an Asus router with adaptive QoS.

Yes correct.
My download speed is 60mbps/ upload is 7mbps.
Netflix is using around 5mbps.
So in the qos download speed I type in say 10mbps..? and in uplaod speed i leave it at 0?
