Provision of broadband service .

I ordered Sky Broadband in good faith on the 8th March 2025 , latest date given to me for actual installation of broadband is now 17th July 2025 . I know it is down to Openreach getting permission etc. to dig up footway , but when will compensation start from . Initially told installation would be between 18th March and 22nd March but no later than 6th June . Then told will be 8th April then 29th May ! then 17th June now they are saying the 17th July 2025 ! In the meantime still tied to NowTV broadband Fab Fibre @£41.50 per month for a about a speed of 20mbs  . Also does anybody know the longest somebody has had to wait for service  ?

The compensation credit should apply from the first date you were given as per this:

Re: Provision of broadband service .

So which of the dates will i get compensation from ? It is only because of the compensation , that i have not cancelled and gone somewhere else .

@StuartBungle What does it say on your order tracker, it should have you first confirmed install date, everything after this is just the shuffling to compensate for the failures for whatever reason.

Re: Provision of broadband service .

What happens if Openreach eventually do turn up but because say a vehicle is parked over the footway box that they need access to or where they need to dig , hey cannot  do work , would Sky have to still pay compensation ? Is there a max compensation payout ? Do you get a cheque or just goes against your bills ?  ( What if i  die before the compensation is payed out ?)  Can you claim for being forced to stay with current provider because you do not want to enter into another 2 year contract ?

Re: Provision of broadband service .

@StuartBungle Here is the copy of my terms, as below.

Delivery of service

Many of our services are activated within 24-48 hours. However, in the event that further provisioning is required we expect your services will be available to you within 10-14 days. Based on this we expect your service would go live between 15/03/2025 and 19/03/2025.
Occasionally there are factors outside the control of Sky that may lead to delay. In rare cases where complex provisioning is required, or where issues occur, installation could take up to 90 days. In this event the latest your services would be activated is 03/06/2025.
When placing the order, the advisor will provide a provisional activation date which will be confirmed as soon as is reasonably practical.
If you are switching your services from another provider, we will confirm this during the sales process and explain the next steps then. Further information is available at sky.com/broadband-switch.

Re: Provision of broadband service .

Currently talking to a Sky rep and even they are not 100% sure when my compensation would start from ! he thinks the 29th of May . He is going to contact '' Openwound '' to find out what the excessive delay is .

@StuartBungle Hope you find out one way or the other, it's all a mess, i was lucky my side, signed up 5/3 and live on 10/3, bit off a rush on the sky side, but OR said that's when we are doing it, so sky get the !"£ in gear, which they did. It's all this propossed moving of the goal post's with no commitment get's you down....

@StuartBungle If Openreach turn to do the work but can't due to a third party obstruction then any compensation will stop from that day.

I do not believe there is a cap on compensation, however if it is delayed repeatedly then Openreach may just cancel the order.

You can request the compensation be paid to your bank, but you need to call Sky and get them to agree to that before it's paid, if you don't it will be place on your account as a credit against future bills.

If you are unfortunate enough to die before the compensation is paid then it's lost, and no you cannot claim anything else for being stuck with your current provider due to the delay in switching.
