Price reduction call - a scam?

I received a call from Sky (?) a few days ago saying that the cost of my broadband will reduce as i am paying more than i should. I asked for more details about this but it was unclear. i asked if this meant if i would be tied into a contract as i am currently not as i want to look at all options. they said no and then asked for my sky account details for security. he got frustrated when i told him i would give him my details as i have no idea who he was. said it would think about it and call the official sky number.  anyone else had this?

@mlc100 It's always hard but you did as expected and did not give out your details, sky sales do need to know to get through the security and giving wrong, the other person accepting and carrying on but scammers are aware off every trick in the book. Call to sky, and asking can you check if someone from sky did call me, they do head off check and report yah/nah if the get through to there own sales dept. Personally sky call me, i am politely doing same as you, let me call and find out your getting NONE off my details whatsoever you could be JJ from the planet Pluto as far as i am concerened, never mind about spoofing phone numbers!!!!

@mlc100 the procedure a genuine Sky agent should follow is to ask you to confirm your name and that you are the account holder they then should ask for your telephone password as Sky's system does not allow access until,the password is given or additional security details which should never require you to give the whole of an account number or bank account details.

Intentionally giving a wrong password is one method of checking ss a scammer will probably accept it nut the real agent wont so it is probably safecto give thecreal one.

Sky calling up to offer a no-strings lower price is somewhat unlikely.

@mlc100

That doesn't sound like a call from Sky because they would ask for your telephone password as generally calls like this are designed to capture your login details so they can order items like phones and tablets via it while you would be paying for them.
