Possible fraudulent Fibre Broadband request

Writing on behalf of my elderly parents. We had someone attend our address from Openreach today, claiming that someone (a name we did not recognise) had requested fibre broadband from Sky be installed at our property.

We said he had the wrong address, as we are with BT, but he confirmed that this was the address he had been given.

My elderly parents are terrified that someone is trying to "hack" or take over their landline/broadband. I've tried to contact Sky, but haven't had any luck. Can anyone from Sky advise whether someone has made a request for our address? I can provide more information by private message.

@JimmyD91 You have to get with you parents at the home address, call BT, pass the security and have them allow you to speak on there behalf, then you can find out and get to the bottom off the request!

No one will call you on this with the Forum posting you have done! BT can say if there has been a OTS request for the service to be cancelled and transfered over to sky!

@JimmyD91

You aren’t communicating with Sky by posting on here. This is a customer ➡️ customer discussion forum where we try to help other Sky customers.

Sky won't respond to you on here.

Are they with BT as you stated above?

Re: Possible fraudulent Fibre Broadband request

I appreciate that, thanks. The problem is we are not with Sky, we are with BT, so there is no account/security information for us to provide. It is someone else who is trying to set up an account at our address.

Re: Possible fraudulent Fibre Broadband request

@JimmyD91 BT have to inform you for the request with take over, either via a text or e-mail sent it's all part off the OTS system request, then a response to that with a no/yes, when there is no response the operation off takeover just goes ahead!
