Possible Scam text

Just had a text message as the following from number I do not know. Changed my name to my screen name.

Hi MV1, it's Sky.
Great news, you can upgrade your Sky broadband to Full Fibre for no extra cost for 18 months.
It's the UK's most reliable technology, with speeds of up to 145Mbps.
Terms apply.
Interested? Reply `Yes'.

Text STOP to 08401 to opt out.

Just want to make sure that this is not a scam. Help?

Re: Possible Scam text

Just had the same text, definitely a scam, I replied YES, then I was asked for all my personal info which I didn't do. Reported text to Sky and deleted message. Hope this helps.

Re: Possible Scam text

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@MV1 not heard of Sky offering this free upgrade but companies like Talk Talk do so it is possible. You could ring Sky and ask or wait until tomorrow when the forum staff are in who can find out for you.

Re: Possible Scam text

I've just had the same message and fell for it.

This is the second text they sent me -

You’ve been transferred into the queue for an expert. It looks to be about a 15 mins wait. Feel free to go about your day and they’ll be in touch once they’ve worked on your query.

Please can you give us the following info so that the expert can access your account:
1. Your full name.
2. Your address.
3. Your postcode.
4. If you're the account holder.

They are upgrading around us so unfortunately assumed it was legitimate.
