So my WiFi has just gone down and Sky can't come to fix it for 3 days .
My wired connection from the router to my desktop via Ethernet cable seems to be working fine so I'm assuming there may be a fault with the WiFi transmitter within the router .
My question is;
Can I connect my portable WiFi router into the Sky router via Ethernet cable and use that to transmit WiFi until the Sky router is either fixed or replaced?
if it can be done what settings to I need to have on the portable router as the ones now don't seem to be working?

Find out more@Steve0987 You can try by connecting an ethernet cable from the mobile router to the socket labelled number 4 on the back of your Sky hub which might work but dont be surprised if it doesnt. Honestly it is probably simpler to connect your devices directly to the mobile router.

I didn't think that would work
I thought only specific routers worked with Sky
Will any router work with Sky then?

For broadband from Sky, yes, but cellular data isn't Sky broadband.

So I've plugged the portable (Tenda) router into my wall socket by-passing the Sky router and i have no internet conenction.
I used to use the prtable router for relaying images from a camera to an iPad years ago and have a feeling it needed to be confirgured in a way to do so.
Should this work straight out of the box? Woulda factory reset fix the issue?
Below is what i have

Hang on: are you trying to use the cellular router for cellular data reception, or for Sky (terrestrial) broadband?
The latter won't work.

Ah, you appear to be trying to use the cellular router as a wireless access point to redirect the Sky broadband from wired to wireless.
That's definitely not going to work.

Its not just a cellular router.
Its a portable wifi router.
Back in the day when there was no either wifi or you had to pay for wifi in hotels people used to buy these portable routers to plug into the ethernet port in hotel rooms so they had wifi.

I uloaded the wrong image and can't delete is so this is the correct one
So in theory, if i use the Sky router as a modem it should work

Do you have a mobile phone?
What speed do you get via mobile data?
Could you try tethering or using the mobile as a wifi hotspot?
