Port forwarding to a desktop
"Managing your home network settings is now easier than ever."
It's really not. Easier is having it right there on your router where it is meant to be. I'm trying to forward ports to my desktop and I can't seem to find it. If you click wireless and then advanced, port forwarding is there, but It only lists a few wireless devices and not the desktop. There is absolutely no 'let me tell you what IP to port forward to' option. I'm glad I kept my TP link from my last provider, because I'm about to fire this thing out the window.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
@crossmr assume you are talking about setting up port forwarding on the white Sky Max hub using the app. The device list should include devices connected by ethernet but if your desktop is not showing (check first that it is not listed under the name of the network card) try disconnecting the desktop and refreshing the app. Once the device is selected the IP port or range options are on the next page.
If you have a Sky FTTC connection and. are using TP-Link modem router you can use that. However unfortunately TP-Link routers do not connect easily to Sky full fibre services as they dont offer DHCPv4 Option 61.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
The device is connected and listed under connected, but not under the device list.
Refreshing it for the nth time, it's now appeared. Let's see if it actually works though. I know there are about 2x as many things connected as it shows on the list of available devices.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
It let me add the rule, but it doesn't seem to work though. Ran a port checker and it says the ports are closed.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
@crossmr Port checkers will only flag if a response is returned from the configured client.
No active runing service on the port, or if the service chooses not to respond to the probe,
both will show as the port is still closed.
Trying to access the required resources with the correct configuration / client will hopefully gain you access.
Edit: remember to punch a hole thru yr desktop firewall if also needed.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
Coming back to this as it's still causing issues. running a local Ark server and need to access it locally from the in-game browser. This was not an issue on my old internet setup. i've forwarded the ports (7777-7778 tpc/udp and 27020 tcp/udp), but it isn't working. Even with the server software running (which works, and using a direct IP connection from inside the client connects, so it's up and running) port checker still claims the ports are closed.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
Guess i can't edit,
using dnschecker on the 4 ports (udp 7777, 7778, 27015 and tcp 27020) all report a result of 'timed out' on the ports. The ports are opened in my firewall as well. Even tried putting the machine on the dmz and doesn't make a difference.

Re: Port forwarding to a desktop
Just thought I'd attach these showing the software listening on 7777, the firewall being open and the port forward rules from the app showing they're forwarded.
Just spoken with one of their live agents who decided it needed to go to tech supported and said someone would get back in 1-2 days, but if anyone has experience here and there is an easy fix let me know.
