Poor wifi signal - especially in 1-2 rooms

Hope someone can help.

I get very poor wifi in our kitchen/dining room.  This is a problem becasue we have to work there sometimes.

It's only about 5-6 meters away from the modem.  Also, when I run a test the results always come back saying that the broadband and wifi are both 'good'.

We had a problem with the upstairs bedrooms, but a booster sorted it out. But I've bought a booster from Amazon for the kitchen but it doesn't do any good.

Things that might be affecting it:

- the Sky modem is quite old

- the kitchen is part of an extension, so there's a a couple of steels running through it. (but the Alexa works OK).

Any ideas, help please?

Thanks

Alex

@Lacksfocus

Audio over Alexa uses negligible bandwidth (a few hundred Kbs at most)

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of 'Broadband Boost' and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell them except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Inevitably some have leaked onto a certain auction site, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above.
