Poor wifi connection using Sky Max Hub with Sky Superfast Broadband ADSL and Whole Home package.

So, I can't get Openreach to install cable, even though I live in an urban street and adjacent streets have cable.

I was told my best option is to use a Sky Max Hub router with Sky Superfast Broadband and Whole Home subscription, which I have done.

The router is situated in the lounge at the front of the house and my study is at the back of the house.

I work from home using a Macbook Pro and the WIFI signal fluctuates dramatically throughout the day. I have a signal monitor installed which shows the in/out signals mainly sitting between 0 bytes per second  to 15kb per second. (I'm not sure what this means but I have a feeling it is slow?).

Invariably, whilst I am using the internet, my browser can run okay and then either slow down dramatically or stop working all together.

When testing the connection speed, using an installed app the in/out readings are low but the connection speed results show 52mbps, which it says is good for streaming, gaming etc.

At the same time, I'm unable to open a new website page and Chrome sits with it's spinning wheel?

Sky guaranteed I would get perfect WIFI in every room, using the set-up I pay for. Obviously, I don't and I'm beginning to pull my hair out.

As you can see, I'm not a tech expert and I'd appreciate any help or advice?

No, unfortunately they really don't.  The 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' is actually for a small refund if coverage for a rather unambitious speed isn't achieved.

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of 'Broadband Boost' and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell them except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Inevitably some have leaked onto a certain auction site, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above.

Thanks @TimmyBGood

After speaking with Sky yesterday, they have sent me a Sky Max Pod which I have plugged in - I just need to find out if it appears as a separate device in my Mac's wifi options, as I can only see the original router showing atm 😶
