Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
We upgraded to full fibre 150 about 3 weeks ago, from standard broadband, and promised faster uploads and download speeds but since the installation, every film we watch or program we stream buffers and all devices are slow to load content, I've run all the checks in my sky and it says it's all good, but certainly worse than it was before.

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
@Alistair123 When you did the Fibre upgrade to FF150, nothing else was done is that correct, you still have the same hub as before, it is still in the same place as before any off the work was carried out?

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
A new cable was bought in by openreach new box in the hall and moved the existing router from upstairs, where it was connected to the main incoming by socket, but now obviously connected to the small conversion box.

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
@Alistair123 So you have two choices now, the small cable that is used to connect to the box that you have now moved into the hall, longer cable required and box moved back upstairs, it becomes how easy is it to do, look nice and not upset the whole apple cart, the cable is a standard Network cat 5E is good enough.
If that is a complete pain to do, then depending on what hub you have from sky, an extender to give you more wireless wi-fi signal back upstairs will be required, they do have a reduced speed but you will NOT see that with a FF150 connection so you can expect it to give you up arround the 150mb/s speed and a lot does depend
on the house. Say what hub you have, sky have stopped doing the old extenders.... Look at the link below for the type....

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
Hi thanks for the reply but the router is now down we're the white extender was, and the white extender is now where the router was, so very similar as before. Not really possible to send it back upstairs, I not really sure this will help with sky Q box buffering as the router is now closer to it than before, I may upgrade the cable from the converter box to the router, I've read that the quality of the one they send out is not great.

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
@Alistair123 There is NOTHNG wrong with the cable that sky send quality wise unless it is faulty with a bad pin connection, speed test next to the router and anything above the 100Mb/s then there is nothing wrong with the cable and assuming that the test device is good enough to do those speeds wireless or wired connected to the hub.
Your Q TV box if wireless connected may just be going up to the extender and back down to the hub, easy check turn the extender off when watching the Q tv and see how that goes.....

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
Agreed, it should be the cable, just going on what I've read, that's why it's frustrating that all streaming is buffering, all tests up around 140/150 download and 40/50;upload speeds but still not great when trying to watch on demand tv.

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
@Alistair123 Try switching the White SE210 extender off, will force the Q to the sky hub as the wireless source and see how that goes.....

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
Same here, I have upgraded to full fibre 150 and have buffering issues when streaming and feel that things in general are a tad slower to load speed tests show that the download and upload speeds are as they should be, did you get yours resolved?

Re: Poor internet speed since upgrading to fibre
Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear that, it's dissapointing and frustrating inst it, I will try and contact Sky tomorrow for all the good it will do me, I just know they're going to test the line and say the speed is as it should be and that there's nothing wrong, I've tried resetting everything, connecting via wifi and Ethernet cable, some things will play ok and others buffer and are not watchable.
