Poor download speeds over WiFi
Hi there,
we've had Sky Gigafast broadband for just over two weeks now and, although our house is quite small, the WiFi signal is poor upstairs and my son often complains that it cuts out in his bedroom.
I've also experienced much slower download speeds than I was expecting. I don't think I've seen a speed test achieve over 100Mbps since this new line was installed. When I use the checker on the mysky app, it tells me that the router is getting 5Gbps, but I'm never able to achieve anything close to that on any device.

Re: Poor download speeds over WiFi
@BenAthowFrost if you are not getting decent WiFi speeds in the same room as the hub then make sure the hub is out in the open ideally on a surface well away from other equipment and above obstructions like radiators. If the cable connecting the hub to the ONT is too short then you can buy and usexa longer ethernet cable but make sure it is at least Cat5e and donr rely on an old cable you found in a drawer as they can beceasily damaged and no longer dupport gigabit speeds.
When considering WiFi speeds the size of a property is less of a problem than how it is built. If your home is older and has solid internal walls WiFi coverage will inevitably be reduced especially in rooms on a different floor and some distance from the hub as the signal has to pass through multiple walls.
So what are the so,utions assuming simply moving the hub has not helped? The simplest is to buy Sky's WiFi Max bundle where they will supply up to 3 wifi extenders if required to get 25Mb/s speed in every room. A single pod extender in the hall or landing might sort your issue. If you want say a minimum of 100Mb/s in every room then buying a basic WiFi5 whole home wifi package with 2 or 3 units should work if you turn off the Sky hub's wifi cost under £100 . If you feel you need say at least 700Mb/s in every room then prepare for a much higher orice for a wifi7 system.

Re: Poor download speeds over WiFi
@BenAthowFrost Are you on the Gigafast+ 5Gb/s package delivered over the CF Fibre connection with the newest wifi7 sky Hub?
If so do you have at least an Ethernet connected device that can do a speed check rather than trying to rely on the wireless from that Hub?
