Poor WiFi in certain rooms

Hi,

I joined Sky yesterday (Broadband and TV).

Generally happy with the service so far but have noticed very weak (and slow) wifi in rooms furthest from the router.

Are you able to advise what can be done to improve performance?

Thanks

@Alastair9

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of the legacy 'Broadband Boost' add-on and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell boosters except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Phoning Sky to go through a telephone diagnosis is required to have a booster or pod allocated to the account. Inevitably some  Sky booster hardware has leaked onto a certain auction site and elsewhere online, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the default 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' bundled with all new Sky Broadband orders where Boost or Max is not added by the customer doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above plus a one month broadband subscription refund.

Re: Poor WiFi in certain rooms

My call with Sky went along the lines of, we will provide you with x1 WiFi extender initially but you have to wait 10 days before calling back for further extenders which require a visit from an engineer. This seems somewhat slow and cumbersome as I know from my previous provider (BT/EE) that I need additional extenders in our Victorian home (thick brick walls and loft conversion).

I receive the first extended today and plugged it in on the same floor as the hub (as recommended by the agent) but it's no surprise to me that it hasn't drastically improved the WiFi signal around the house. I now have to wait 10 days before I can flag to Sky that I need further WiFi boosters!!

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any suggestions on ways to accelerate this unnecessary (in my view) wait?

thanks in advance
