Evening,
bought a Philips hue bridge kit today, suggests it should be as easy as plugging it into the back of my router I have the black one.
For neither love nor money can I get it to acknowledge the bridge kit, I get a fixed amber light and a flickering green.
No matter what port I change it to this happens and anything I swap into the others works seemlessly7
As usual trying to get hold of sky was a chore and when you do and are pulling your hair out they try and upsell you new broadband package
The person I spoke to said I'd need an engineer, I don't think they knew what they were doing...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Stuart130 Have you tried rebooting the hub?

yeh, I've rebooted the hub, reset it, turned it towards the sun, got a vicar to come bless it and licked my elbow an even number of times but nothing
I've done the same with the bridge too yet nothing.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Stuart130 Are there any error messages on the phillips hue app.
You could also try this
Log into the hub settings via the IP address on a non Apple device and then disabled the WiFi access point in the 5GHz settings.
Reboot the hub

@GD1 , I just get a message through the app that says 'searching for Hue Bridge' then it say 'No Hue Bridge found'
'your hue bridge must be powered on (it is), plugged into your router via ethernet cable (it is), and connected to the same Wi-Fi Network as your mobile device. The first two blue lights on the Hue Bridge should be on.
I have two lights showing which I interpret as 'power' and 'network' , the third one unlit is 'internet'
Back of my router still shows left hand light amber fixed and right light flashing green under the port where they ethernet cable is plugged (I've also tried another cable same result)
Front of router is lit and working as usual...

@GD1 I don't know how to log into the hub as the app can't find it...
Unless by hub you meant sky router... which I have managed to get into but didn't want to create havoc by clicking stuff I didn't understand....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Stuart130 Log into your hub as before, Click on the Wifi tab and you will be required to Log in the username is admin the password is the wifi password on the hub's label.
When the tabs appear click on the 5GHz tab and the setting to disable the band is there make the change and click to apply and save the change. The hub will restart.

@Stuart130 @The linked item is a couple of years old, but might still be relevant.

Ok, the security is turned off on the 5Ghz setting...
I'm back online
Router still shows same lights on back
The solution another poster suggested didn't come up showing the bridge box when logging on via laptop, it then suggested I go back to the app!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Stuart130 Are you able to connect to the hue hub on your mobile device and setup? Also are you able to try another ethernet cab;le to rul out a cable issue.

Initially was doing it via my iphone
but just logged in via laptop and it says it can't find it either
I dont mind doing either but neither works

I've tried another cable.
Neither the app or the website acknowledges the presence of the plugged in cable and associated bridge unit
It's like the sky router can't get beyond the amber light assigning/allowing the bridge access to the network
There's no relevant information on the bridge either
