PS5 not connecting to wifi

Hi guys wondering if you can help me.

I have a PS5 which used to connect to my white max hub BUT periodically it would disconnect then eventually not connect at all due to 'weak wifi' so I contacted Sky and didn't get much help unless I upgraded, however, it was suggested to get a wifi extender. Despite all devices in my house connecting to the hub other than my PS5 which is also close to the hub.

I contacted TP LINK and got their recommended extender which worked pretty well until recently where again my PS5 wont connect to either. It sometimes randomly connects with no issues but more often than not it wont connect.

I have my settings switched to WPA2. I have contacted PSN who after doing tests etc have said its the Wifi provider.

Any more ideas for me to try?  Thanks!

@JamesB312 Is it not close enough to cable it?

Re: PS5 not connecting to wifi

@JamesB312 Does the PS5 have the ability settings wise to only select connecting on the 2.4ghz band!

How to force your PlayStation 5 to connect to 5GHz Wi-Fi
  1. On your PS5, head to the Settings menu.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Set Up Internet Connection.
  5. Wait for the initial scan to end.
  6. Press the Options button on your controller to access the advanced menu.
  7. Select 5GHz under Wi-Fi Frequency Bands.
  8. The PlayStation will then re-scan for Wi-Fi networks on the 5GHz band – wait a few seconds.
  9. Select the network you’d like to connect to, and complete setup as usual.

That’s it! Your PlayStation 5 should then automatically connect to the 5GHz band of your home Wi-Fi network, which should result in significant speed improvements compared to 2.4GHz.

It is worth noting that 5GHz Wi-Fi doesn’t transmit quite as far as its low-frequency brethren, so if you find yourself struggling with connectivity post-change, it might be worth reconnecting to the 2.4GHz band instead – that, or invest in a decent powerline adapter!

Re: PS5 not connecting to wifi

It does. I've tried this and there's better chance of it connecting but it's honestly awful to use for online gaming
