PPPoE username and password

Hi, I'm trying to use a third party router but i need the username and password from sky but the sky agent i spoke to over the phone said that they would not provide this and i would need to speak to the router manufacturer. Is there anyone on here that could provide me with this please?

Thanks

What broadband package are you on fttp or fttc?

Are you in ireland?

What router do you have?

Tp link routers don't appear to support sky authentication ie sky mer, dhcp option 61, client id.  Sky only supports PPPoE in Ireland

There is a possibility of getting it authenticated via dhcpv6 prefix delegation :-

Select both ipv4 and ipv6 on the wan

Select dhcpv6 dynamic (not static) on the wan

Enable pd/prefix delegation on the wan

For address creation on the lan choose stateless/SLAAC

Seems that most success comes with Asus' models.

Note that without a Sky Broadband Hub you cannot get access to the VOIP Sky Talk bundled with FTTP.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Used in access point mode you only lose adaptive qos for gaming, vpn on the asus and choose you own dns. Then you run the asus ethernet thru the sky hub

Re: PPPoE username and password

If it helps I had a very simple setup with a Netgear Nighthawk and it has great coverage.

Re: PPPoE username and password

Did you need to enter any ISP username and password?

The Netgear Nighthawk series just require the input of the DHCP Option 61 string to connect

Re: PPPoE username and password

@BillyD97 Can I ask how you got that to work? Mine keeps asking for PPOe user and password and all the ones I have tried arent working. But from what I gather, I need to input these for me to get to the main settings for Option 61 etc?
