Outage in my area since boxing day
Hi everyone, my broadband has been down now since boxing day, there is an outage that Openreach know about apparently, no confirmed repair date yet.
My question is, if I cancel and move away, will I have the same issue or will other providors be using a different cable?
I have Sky full fibre at present (Or not lol) my next door neighbour is with BT and their internet is fine.
Thanks
James

Re: Outage in my area since boxing day
@jhosk1981 if you are out of contract then you are free to move but any other isp using the Openreach network will have exactly the same issue. If you have switched to full fibre another isp will not be ablecto switch you back to partial fibre as Openreach will not accept an order.
There are various possible explanations why your neighbour still has an Openreach connection including they happen to be on a different distribution point or they are still on partial fibre so their link uses a different path to the exchange.
if your road has cabelling from Virgin Media or one of the many altnrt fibre providers that would be an option as would mobile broadband or satellite systems like Starlink. Assume you are aware that you are accumulating compensation see Customer Auto-Compensation | Sky Help | Sky.com

Re: Outage in my area since boxing day
Thanks, yes I am aware of the compensation deal however i just want broadband back!
You don't realise how much mobile data you burn through when you work from home, no catchup, no netflix/prime etc etc. A real pain now.
I am looking at Starlink now, I really don't care about the Sky contract as they have breached their terms by not providing me with a service for over two weeks now.

@jhosk1981 I am a customer like yourself and I absolutely agree its a pain. Sky will probably release you from contract if asked but legally they dont have to unless a court ordered them to. I managed consumer advice centres before I retired and we had to help many clients who assumed they could walk away from contracts when in practice they couldn't.
