Out of contract and left

Im out of contract and left , Sky have billed me for early termination charges afetr I have decided to go elsewhere and not signing a new contract . Do I have to return old equipment

To save problems in the future keep any proof of posting safe and indefinitely as Unipart do not appear to be very good at telling Sky equipment has been returned.

If you were a sky Q customer then yes you will need to return the equipment

Thank you for your reply , no I was not a Sky Q customer , I try to call them to explain but it keeps sending me to the direct debit team. Ill try from another phone as it seems they have tracked mine to divert to payments

I have been 11 years with Sky anf the fees we going upwards , I needed 5 boxes on multi screen but q or the new equipment doesnt offer this. Glass was offered at a fee far in excess of what Virgin offered , so went for Virgin saving £50 per month

I was just wondering why

  1. if you were out of contract why you were billed early termination fees and
  2. why when you phone it try's to send you to a direct debit team
