Our internet has been broken by National Grid during maintenance work and will be out of use for several days. Can Sky offer help? We work from home so this is a real problem. National Grid are not admitting liability.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Michael_ings you have to report the fault to Sky who will arrange for Openreaxh to repair the line. Leave getting compensation from National Grid to them. While you can call Sky yiurself I have escalated your post to the Sky team who support the forum who should be in touch soon to offer you a private chat session to get this sorted. Keep an eye onnthe forum as if you miss the message just click the chat icon which will be added to the forum pages for you to use.saving a long phone call.
Note Openreach have a 2 working day lead time so it may be Monday before they get out to you. Unfortunately working from home does not change the priority for what is classed as a domestic connection.

Note that unlike some other ISPs, Sky doesn't supply domestic customers with a cellular data hotspot during outages: if you want one of those you'd need to source it and a suitable SIM yourself and then count the retrospective £9.33 per day compensation as going towards the cost.
Broadband Boost and WiFi Max subscribers who are also Sky Mobile customers do get an extra (although not particularly generous) data allowance after reporting an outage which could be used for tethering.
