Option61/MER needed for sky on virgin fibre?

Moving to brand new fibre from cable. Cable was Virgin installed and so is the new fibre.
I have changed from virgin to sky ultrafast plus and they/their contractors are installing
the outside cable and indoor ONT etc. here next week.

(Dublin, Ireland)

I have seen that any router I buy (to replace the sky hub) must support Option61/MER.
Is this the case even when the underlying fibre network is a virgin fibre network?

I am not an expert, so a simple explanation would be most welcome 🙂

@maulwurf Pretty sure the ROI is a completely different connection method to the UK!

Think this is the ROI settings needed below.

Username                        anything@skydsl

Password                        anything

Vlan                                   enable and type in 10
