My 8yr old daughter fell and snapped the optical cable out the ONT.
The Openreach engineer brought the cable through one wall and then mounted the ONT on the adjacent wall. Rather than leaving enough cable to run it along the skirting boards, he left it tought diagonally from wall to wall.
So when my daughter fell into it it stood no chance 😂

So I forgot to included my question!!
What will I be charged for the Openreach engineer to come and fit a new optical cable?

Due to it being damaged internally by yourself/family members Sky may charge you for the repair/visit however they dont always charge.

That sounds like it was very poorly fitted and could have caused injuries. You need to stress that when you contact Sky.

Would you mind giving me an update on the outcome?
I've got an engineer booked for tomorrow after I broke the optical cable when fiddling with the cable in the ONT. Just wondering if I'll be charged. I'm in contract, if that makes a difference.

@MillmountVillage It would have been better had you not posted on an open forum like this for all to see,
It makes no difference with regards to contract status, when you admit as you have done.

Ah, I've no problem paying for my mistakes.
Just wondered if you were charged and seems like you weren't!
Hopeful of the same but as I say, if it's a reasonable cost then fair enough, it was my doing.

@MillmountVillage Depends on what you would consider reasonable, if OR or sky have a fixed price may not be a big job for the engineer, we all understand mistakes, cup of tea/coffee and a good chocolate biscuit, with an understanding engineer may be all it takes....

Of course, one person's reasonable is another's extortionate.
Yeah, my experience is to be truthful and not to try to pull any wool over anyone's eyes and more often than not you'll get a reasonable response. Cup of tea and some nice biscuits will be bought tonight ahead of the appointment! 😀
