Openreach delay full fibre Broadband installation

Ordered via Sky October 2024,installation date given then was end of  November (29th) 2024 Since then I have been given 4 dates for installation which have all been cancelled, the last being the 6th February 2025.I have raise a complaint with Sky as my contract is with them who in turn have escalated the matter with Openreach.

The fibre cable junction box is situated inthe pavement adjacent to my drive and  about a car lengths from where the th existing broadband cable enters my bungalow. As the drive is not tarred and top covered with granite chips this should not cause a problem running cable.

I have now been given a date of 17th March 2025 for installation ,5 months down the line since I ordered full broadband.

Perhaps I should terminate all contracts with Sky in view of very poor customer care ?

@john+davie of course you can but unless you haveca different network to use its pretty pointless as itvwill further delay your install. In the meantime you are accumulating quite a lot of compensation see Customer Auto-Compensation | Sky Help | Sky.com

Re: Openreach delay full fibre Broadband installation

I'm much in the same boat, I ordered an upgrade to Full Fibre Optic, since we now have it in our area.  It's just been delay after delay with the same old excuses and Sky not being able to get Open Reach to schedule a Engineer Visit. I calculate they owe me in Automatic Talk/Broadband Compensation currently stands at:

1 Missed Appt £30.49

64 Full Days  @ £6.10 each day = £ £329.89

Current total £359.89 At this rate I'll have a full Years subscription without having to pay a

penny!

Re: Openreach delay full fibre Broadband installation

Has anyone actually been a viable answer as to why they are taking to long?
I ordered it roughly December time and have had cancellation after cancellation and new installation dates every month. Starting to wind me up with very little information as to why it's taking so long.

@TaniaT Openreach are installing roughly 80,000 new fibre lines eaxh week. Unfortunately some do go wrong including yours. The reasons for long delays vary but where external, permissions are required often causes the longest waits. Sky should becable to tell you what the holdup is for your job but are powerless to move things forward as these things take as long as they take.
