Open reach full fibre installation issue

Hello,

wondering if anyone could help / advise. Looking to get sky fibre and today open reach came out and I got the following message from sky :

Openreach has informed us that they currently do not have the equipment in place to connect your Broadband and Talk to your phone exchange. They are looking for the best way to get you connected

has this happened to anyone else before? Never had this sort of issue with virgin media fibre!
thanks in advance 🙂

That's because Virgin owns and runs its own private (and geographically limited) coaxial cable distribution which only it uses: they have relatively little fibre delivery into customer premises.   Sky, like most other ISPs, resells service on the national Openreach copper and optical network.

@Grac2

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Thank you for getting back to me,

annoyingly it won't let me print screen but the two sentences after the table say

"Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit

Residential UG partial Direct In Ground.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered."

the table as follows :

@Grac2 still only a small part of the table but the notes indicate that the new gibre feed comes from the road underground and will be directly buried in the ground ie there is no existing duct carrying the okd copper cable they can use.

In this case normally a team who handle ground works from Openreach have to dig a slit trench and bury a thin duct from the pavement point to your property which may cross your drive and then make good. Once the  duct is in place a second team runs the fibrecable through the new microduct and installs an external plastic box where the street cable terminates and to be connected to the internal feed to the ONT unit in your home. My own install was similar and took multiple visits hopefully your's will be smoother than mine but expect a few weeks delay.

Re: Open reach full fibre installation issue

That's the issue underground cable direct in ground

the current copper service is a buried armoured cable with no ducting so the delay is while open determine the best way to supply and fit the new full fibre cable
