ONT location and questions
Having fibre broadband set up in a couple of weeks, and just had a text about OpenReach will send an engineer beforehand to install a grey box to the outer wall.
The property is a bungalow, and the living room is at the back. The hub/router will ideally need to be on the back wall, as that's where the TV/firestick and a few other things that use ethernet for. So I take it the ONT needs to be installed on this same back wall too, or at least close to where the hub/router will be?
Does the location of this grey box limit where the ONT can be installed? I presume OpenReach will install it at the front/side.

Re: ONT location and questions
@Manchos2 You will be able to speak with the engineer that is doing the outside work to see where the CSP will be installed outside the property. If you fill out the form in the link below and submit it, then cover the private information up in the top-left corner and post a screenshot the community can help you better understand the install process.

Re: ONT location and questions
From what I've seen it will be a FTTP setup for 500mbs speeds.
Since posting I did read some older posts on here that suggested it doesn't matter where the CSP box goes as the engineer will wire around to whereever the ONT will be installed.
The install is at my parents house, I have asked them to ask the OpenReach worker when he comes to fit the CSP, but Sky indicates they just turn up and get to work and you dont need to be home. So it depends if they see him before he starts work.

If digging is required then there needs to be an adult present to give consent. For delivery from a pole, Openreach may just get on with it.
Typically the CSP is at ground level as close as possible to where the fibre drop cable arrives from duct or pole.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: ONT location and questions
From CSP to ONT can be up to twenty metres (the length of the standard optical pigtail) and this can be run around the outside of the property as long as there's a clear route for it. They won't take it through internal walls though.

Re: ONT location and questions
The key information is in the line under the table.
'OH' is overhead, so delivery will be from a pole rather than a duct.
Note the 'potential wayleave issues' which could lead to delay: that means there's a possible problem getting access to the pole itself, or between the pole and the boundary of your property.
