No way to open ports on Hub

I have the Sky Gigafast Hub  and i'm trying to change settings for the router. It says go to the My Sky App. I have done but only see Broadband Shield and Mcafee Internet Security. Is it not insane to have to use a phone app to change port forward settings?

No, because it's increasingly tricky to get web browsers to talk to Hub administration pages which use self-signed SSL certificates.

It sounds like your My Sky app hasn't updated to reflect your Max Hub use.

So you can view and make changes to a lot of settings but for port forwarding you need to use a completely seperate method? It makes zero sense to me. Especially when the alternative method isn't available as in my case. I've just ordered a replacement router as i didn't realise i wouldn't be able to do a simple thing like Port Forawrd with a sky hub.

@Artemis72 Did you per chance order the Sky Max white hub and package from sky?

Re: No way to open ports on Hub

@Artemis72 You have the new Round wi-fi 7 sky Hub on a CF CityFibre high speed connection? If so not a lot on the Forum about it, and what there is then well locked down, and app control is more than likely the only way to get to it for sure! Port forwarding should work but to what degree would take someone using to say!

Any one with a 2.5/5Gb/s speed service really should more than likely be looking to use a third party hub/router with way better control!

Re: No way to open ports on Hub

Yeah, ive managed to find an ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 for under £400 so i'll waqit until that arrives. The thing is, on my app there isn't any way of setting up port forwarding or anything like that. Like somebody else said they probably haven't activated it for my account but i'm sure you'd agree, it's a pretty silly method of managing router settings.

@Artemis72 if there are no settings for the hub in the product options section of the My Sky app (note they dont appear in the My Sky website) call Sky as they need to be set up. As pointed out you will find more and more router manufacturers are moving away from web controls due to the issues @TimmyBGood exolains.

@Artemis72 With Asus you will find zenwifi works both web secure https control and if you do wish to use app based that facility is there also no idea how good that is though, i use the web based manager for everything as i would need a 14" mobile phone screen and that's not currently ever going to be available!

Re: No way to open ports on Hub

You will also need to ask Sky to disable MAP-T as port forwarding doesnt work whilst that is enabled even with a different router. I have been asking them since 4th November, about 5 times now and theyve promised every time and still not done.  Also im on the white router and im not able to seperate SSID frequencies into 2.4 and 5ghz or change the channels or the names. I was told to buy a cheap £10 2.ghz hub and let them know and they would credit me the money for it. Wow!
