@KGillan I would think a good few thousand people have issues in your area following Storm Eowyn. It will inevitably take a fair while to get everyone back on line. Sky will be unlikely to give you anything more than a guess at how long it will be.

Same here mate in Athlone my wifi is gone since Friday morning and I can't even get through to talk to someone at Sky,it's a joke no customer service all weekend,you don't happen to have acontact number for Sky as all I get is a machine or computer thanks

It would be really helpful if there was a page that gave outages in our areas or an email to say service is down.  Do you know if sky has this?

Your bang on there mate with no notice whatsoever like a simple message or email just to say that the Internet is down and to give some idea when it might be back woukd be very helpful,I'm having to use the hot-spot on my phone when I can hopefully I don't see why it's not sorted today or tmr at the latest fingers crossed

Not in the way electricity providers use maps, no, because the distribution topology for broadband is very different and most failures are endpoint connections rather than backhaul routes.

Does this stop them communicating to their customers, because they use different technology to show/map their outages?

For that level of communication you'd need a much more expensive subscription than that of your Sky payments.
