No WiFi in up stairs room with sky max WiFi

We've never been able to get WiFi in one of the upstairs bedrooms if our house, after contacting sky, we were given sky max WiFi, but this has made no difference at all.

Do sky do a WiFi extender? If so how are you supposed to get it when you can't chat online to an actual person and you can only ring a number that you will be charged for, and will probably be waiting for a ridiculous amount of time anyway ,so I can't imagine how expensive that would be.

Does anyone have any suggestions for extenders that work? As I doubt sky will be able to help at all, even if they were contactable.

Thanks  🙂

@Wilson511

If you have Wi-Fi Max on your account then Sky will supply up to 3 pods as you can read about here:

150 is the free number to use from a phone that has a Sky mobile sim in it or Sky Talk phone otherwise under "Need more help ?" link at the bottom of the page on this link is the number to call Sky on:

I don't have a sky mobile or sim though and don't really want to ring their number. I'm just after recommendations for good extenders that I can use instead of sky ones.

@Wilson511 If you are paying for the additional sky Max addon that is £10/month extra cost then the information and the link to the number is all below, but you do have to call there is no other way, just see the need more help to see the number or 150 from a landline or a sky mobile.

@Wilson511 It's not a good question to be asking on a sky specific Forum, the recommendation has to be towards sky equipment!

Re: No WiFi in up stairs room with sky max WiFi

So your recommendation is to just ring sky😂 and to direct me to help pages that are already on the website, very helpful..  It was just a question about a booster recommendation, that's compatible with sky max, so yes it is a relevant question to ask the forum....  But I'll try somewhere else.

@Wilson511 Using a third party wifi extender to extend the Sky hub's wifi is not a good idea as the two wifi sources can interfere one with another and devices will not roam between the two seamlessly.

The best solution is to use matched extenders if you want to keep the Sky WiFi downstairs. However there is an alternative which is to replace the hub's wifi with a third party system with multiple units which will work seamlessly. I do this myself I boughtva three unit TP-Link Deco system one of which is connected to my Sky hub by ethernet the other 2 Deco units are on the other 2 levels in my home. The set up runs in "access point mode" which means ghe Sky hub still operates as the router. My system which isnt the fastest as it us only WiFi5 cost under £100 but provides 500Mb/s in my main living area dropping to 150Mb/s in the most distant bedroom.
