New wifi connection poor
Openreach fitted a new fibre 300 wifi router yesterday. It works fine if you are next to it (or on the floor above it) but our Sky Box, which is only about four metres away on the same floor, cannot find the network, which makes the upgrade rather pointless. The position of the router was chosen on the advice of the technician who fitted the router. HELP!

Re: New wifi connection poor
@WillHG The position off the ONT does not define where the sky hub has to be, it's the cable supplied by sky pins that back as it's just the short 1-2M one that they send, moving the sky hub just requires a longer replacement cable, you can then move it to where it worked best, work out the length you need, and for your info Cat5e is all that is required spec wise, Amazon is a good place to get Ethernet cable for the desired length you need.
Installer's are not Network Engineers, and as you have now found out you are the one left holding the can now it's not working like before.
They do it all the time and the Forum is full off this issue when it happens. The priority is all different and they also do try to protect the Fibre cable Install side as much as they can, it's just not the same as putting in a copper cable for a phone line, Fibre is way more delicate!
