New router do I return the old one

I have just upgraded to Signature and was advised by SKY verbally that I needed to return my old router.  My husband does not think Sky wants it back (over five years old).  The operator I spoke to made it very clear I would need to send my old equipment back or incur a charge.   Does anyone have the definitive answer before I have to waste an hour on the phone?

Q Hubs were first made available in late 2015 / early 2016 so can easily be 'over five years old' and still required to be returned.
